Snapchat was firsts launched in 2011. Since then, it has become one of the most popular messaging apps for young adults. This guide has everything you need to know about deleting a Snapchat account.
How to delete a Snapchat account
- Go to Snapchat's Accounts Portal.
- Enter your email address/username and password and click Log In.
- Enter your password again and click CONTINUE.
You can only delete a Snapchat account from a web browser. You can't do that on the actual app.

What happens when you delete your Snapchat account?
Once you click CONTINUE, your account will be deactivated for 30 days before it is permanently deleted. During this period, your friends and contacts won't be able to contact or interact with you on Snapchat. Once deleted, all your account data will also be deleted. You should consider downloading your account data before leaving Snapchat.
You can reactivate your account during the deactivating process by logging back in just like you normally do.
To download Snapchat data:
- Go to https://accounts.snapchat.com/ and log into your Snapchat account.
- Click MY DATA.
- Click SUBMIT REQUEST.
- A link to download your account data will be sent to your email address once it's ready.
- Please wait for it to reach your mail inbox before deleting your Snapchat account.
